Join us for an exciting journey through history presented by the students of DancExcel, Champion Center for Creative Arts Education. The Spirit of the Baobab Tree is a dance-driven stage phenomenon that brings African American history to life!
This dance-umentary explores African and African American history through movement, monologue, music, song, and dance. At the heart of the story is a young boy named Jelani who is strug...gling to overcome a loss of hope and faith in the world after being removed from his family and placed in foster care. Jelani comes to find his inner worth, pride in himself and peace of mind after taking a magical journey through the past with the help of an ancestral storyteller and the magical Baobab tree, the mother tree of Africa.
The Spirit of the Baobab Tree production is a special fundraiser for The Champion Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for children to learn through the arts. Purchase your tickets today from the Harris Theater website at www.harristheaterchicago.org
