Why you need to learn how to market on the internet- cause your storefront has one foot in the grave!
Tonight I was reading an article on yahoo news and it listed several big-time business or at least they used to be big-time, that are poised to disappear in 2011 at least this is what the experts say!
So what does Blockbuster, Dollar Thrifty, Readers Digest, Zales, and Radio Shack all have in common- they were all listed in this report- and I tend to agree with the author- as all have physical addresses and are basically brick and mortar businesses. I also have to agree with the exception of Readers Digest- who could turn it all around and put their info on the net, even for free and cash in on advertising to support their business are doomed for history books.
I constantly tell the BFHS network all the time- that they better learn the internet or the internet will learn them- I don't care how successful your storefront is- you can't beat the net and the person in your niche that figures the net out first- is going to win the battle. In no way am I saying that you shouldn't have a brick and mortar business- but if you don't have both- you are a fool... even if is just a blog that points to a few different products that you can sell online or keep your visitors abreast on the newest and greatest in your niche- even your comings and going and I don't care what anyone thinks- facebook and twitter alone or combined are not going to get it.
Things I recommend...
Domain name from Go Daddy
Wordpress (self hosted blog)
Web Hosting by Host Gator less than 5bucks a month and the best around
a premium theme like socrates and because wordpress is open source technology - I also believe that you should have this plugin- its one of the greatest things since sliced bread SEOpressor
Flash of Brilliance Inc (to put it all together)
if you want to do it yourself with a website- that is the least expensive deal then I suggest GDI as an option! One of the sweet things about GDI is that -they also bundle their website packages with income opportunity, if you want it.
All and all- people miss the boat and then they are standing there at the dock around like they are silly- wondering why the boat left them- they could have got on, but they knew more than everyone- people have yet to realize that the internet levels the playing field of big and small business- if you would take the time to learn.
