If you have registered already and would like to be added to the team please email your full name and birthday to CJ at cjrog@payton34.com. Writing the foundations name will not require any others efforts for runners during open registration. We will however offer for a $34.00 donation a race day singlet, free entrance in the foundation's race (June 2010 Time: TBD Location: Yorkville, IL 5k and 8k run) and other offers related to the Chicago Marathon. You can make the $34.00 donation at www.payton34.com on the main page or under the Chicago Marathon tab.
Remember if anyone has already registered for the marathon they can send me their name to be added to TEAM "SWEETNESS".
Thanks again,

The Walter and Connie Payton Foundation
Mission: We are dedicated to the emotional healing of neglected, abused and underprivileged children by providing tools and opportunities to build self-esteem and encourage a better family unit giving hope for a brighter future.
Our foundation is committed to giving new gifts to as many in-need children as we can each December for the Holiday Season. We work closely with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to ensure that the neediest children in the state of Illinois receive these gifts. Each year WCPF provides for approximately 20,000 children.
Also every August, school supplies are handed out at the Annual Back to School Parade held in the Englewood Neighborhood, which is a low-income neighborhood in Chicago. There are 35 schools in the Englewood area, all of which are "troubled" areas. With the help of the Chicago Police Department, these supplies are distributed to in-need children at the parade. These children would not be able to start their school year with the proper supplies if we did not help them.
In addition to these events we continue to support the DCFS and aid children the children in any manner we are able to.
In addition to programs already in motion, the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation continues to dream. New programs are being initiated to provide children with the tools and the opportunities to become winners!
The task ahead of us is a great challenge.
“Children have always brought a tremendous amount of joy to me and I feel that if you can catch them at a young age you can really change a life. There are a lot of studies that show that one act of kindness to these children has a 40% chance of making that child have a completely different outcome in their life. What you hope is that you can get a kid to believe in something and to believe in themselves.”
